Brandy Gulliford MA Ed, MS, C-SLDI
Welcome to Altitude Tutoring! My name is Brandy Gulliford and I am the owner of Altitude Tutoring LLC. I am a dedicated educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. I believe all children can learn, persevere, and achieve! I am a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist, Orton-Gillingham Certified, EBLI Certified, and hold Master's degrees in Elementary Education and Clinical Exercise Physiology. I am licensed in Elementary Education, Gifted Education, and English for Speakers of Other Languages. I am also a direct pay provider for the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program.
My passion is teaching children to read and write. I decided to move to private practice because I wanted to help struggling students and their families in a more personalized and comprehensive way. Teaching at a school with a gifted and talented center program for 15 years makes me uniquely qualified to support children who learn differently, including those who are twice exceptional. The term “twice exceptional” or “2e” refers to intellectually gifted children who have one or more learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorder.
While I am Orton-Gillingham Certified and that informs my instruction, as a Certified Dyslexia Interventionist I use a variety of structured literacy resources in my practice to target each student’s specific needs. The knowledge I have gained from years of specialized training and extensive work with children with learning differences allows me to achieve effective, efficient results in a caring and supportive environment. My primary role is to improve your child's reading and writing skills, but as your educational partner, I am also available to answer your questions and provide suggestions related to your child’s academic needs.
